a Declaration of Faith

Faith is a part of a growing spiritual journey that we all are walking in.

As a born-again Christian, I recognize the reality of my own spiritual journey when declaring my beliefs in regards to Jesus Christ and the triune God.

God the Father

God. The great I AM. Yahweh. The God of Abraham. (Exodus 3: 6 & 14, Revelation 1:8)

God is the omnipresent, omnipotent creator of the heavens and the Earth. (Genesis 1, Colossians 1:16) He is the ultimate authority. (Romans 13:1, Acts 5:29, James 4:7) He will be the judge at the end of days. (Isaiah 33:22, Acts 17:31, Hebrews 9:27, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 20: 11-15)

Rich in grace and mercy, He desires for us to be someday reunited in His presence and in joyful paradise. (Ephesians 2:4-6, Matthew 8:11, John 14: 1-3, 1 John 3:2, Revelation 21:4)

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. (Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 1:23, John 1:14, John 10:30, John 8:58) Son of the heavenly Father. His arrival prophesized since Genesis 3, Jesus was born by divine intervention to the virgin Mary. (Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 18-25)

Jesus came to not only teach us how to walk in a lifestyle fitting for a follower of the most High (Matthew 16:24, John 10:10, 1 Corinthians 11:1-2, 1 Peter 2:21), but to open the doors of salvation to those outside of the inner circle of God’s people. (Ephesians 3:6, Galatians 3:28, Acts 11:18)

Jesus is also the mediator and sacrifice for our sins against God. We cannot attain salvation on our own. It is the grace of God and the work of Jesus Christ on the cross that allows for our salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-10, John 3:16, John 14:6)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a mediator sent by Christ just after His ascension to heaven. (John 14: 16-17, Acts 2: 1-4) He is the third person of the Holy Trinity, given to us out of love by the Father. (Acts 5:32, Romans 5:5)

The Holy Spirit convicts us and teaches us the deeper truths found within the Word of God. (Psalm 143:10, Ezekiel 36:27, John 14:26) The Spirit also empowers Christians in declaring these truths and the Good News of the Gospel to all that may hear. (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, Acts 4:31, 2 Peter 1:21)

The Holy Spirit comes upon us when we make the decision to become followers of Christ. Those that seek to follow Jesus must continually seek wisdom through the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38, Acts 19:5-6, Ephesians 6:18, Titus 3:5, Jude 1: 20-21)

The Holy Bible

The Holy Bible is the divinely-inspired Word of God. It is perfect and useful in teaching and conviction.(Deuteronomy 8:3, Psalm 19:7-11, Matthew 24:35, Hebrews 4:12-14, 2 Timothy 3:16)

As Christians, we must continually pray and read Scripture. Meditating on the Word creates a solid foundation for our faith and spiritual walk. (Psalm 119:9, Proverbs 2:6, Matthew 4:4, Matthew 7:24)

The Word of God is powerful. Scripture is our best defense against the evils in this world. (Matthew 4:1-17, James 1:21, Ephesians 6:11-13, 17)

Salvation

Salvation is the reconciliation with God the Father. Once, we were with Him in Paradise but we sinned against Him and were banished from His presence. (Genesis 3:1-24, Revelation 21:3-4)

True salvation comes from being born-again in the Holy Spirit. The Spirit then convicts us of all the truths of Scripture. (John 3: 3-8, John 14:26)

It is the saving work of Jesus Christ that saves us. Nothing we do can guarantee our salvation. (Romans 5:10, 1 Corinthians 15:22, Ephesians 2:1-10, 2 Timothy 1:9, Hebrews 9:28)

It is our faith and belief in Christ as our Savior that saves us. (Mark 16:16, John 3:16, Romans 10:10, Acts 2:21, Acts 16:31, 1 Peter 1:8-9)
